Approximate Paint Scheme (reverse-engineered)#
Recipe is a guess based on the finished models — not confirmed.
1. Prime#
Black primer
2. Drybrush — Round 1#
Matt White — medium-heavy pass over all raised surfaces.
Builds the base for the ink to key into.
3. Ink — Magenta (airbrush)#
Liquitex Quinacridone Magenta Ink
Applied selectively with airbrush — not a full flood. Covers most of the body but let’s black stay in the deepest recesses.
4. Drybrush — Round 2#
Matt White again, lighter pass.
Re-brightens the highlights on top of the magenta layer. Creates the mottled, organic skin texture.
5. Details — White#
This will cover most of the magenta for say the beak, tounge, eyes etc …
5. Ink — Blue (airbrush)#
Liquitex Phthalocyanine Blue Ink
Light selective pass — shifts the upper highlights slightly cooler and adds depth without going cold overall.
6. Drybrush — Round 3#
Matt White, very light final pass on the highest points only.
7. Details — Black#
Black to pick out recesses between body parts, clean up separations, sharpen the model. Acts as a under coat for gold
8. Details — Gold#
Gold (metallic) for the staves and any jewelry/icons.
9. Claws and Teeth#
Skeleton Bone or light grey — quick pick-out on tips.
